Summary of the Dark King

But that barrier… it trapped us too. And weirdly enough, power became a big deal again, kinda twisted with this new mix of faith and darkness bleeding into everything. Layer upon layer, it seeped in, branding everyone's thoughts somehow, making them chase shadows instead of real safety maybe?

Then the virus hit hard. It tore through all that careful rebuilding, didn't it? Maybe… just maybe – I dunno how many times this question gets asked down here – did the virus strip away something genuine about us before the world ended?

That's what Du Dian keeps wondering as he stares at his own hands behind bars. He made it out alive when everyone else kinda lost themselves, and suddenly finding himself free in this messed-up new world? It felt like waking up drowning. His main drive now is to just live through another day without getting caught up in all these dark games again.

He tries not to look for the title "Dark King" lurking around every corner; it feels heavy somehow, an echo of a power he never wanted anyway.
