Remember when she got lucky? Yeah, things were pretty damn good for Li Muyao by then. She was settled in her job at a beauty salon – top stuff after all those years clawing her way up from apprentice, twelve long years just to get there! It felt solid.
And life was looking up: the house and car she'd bought, yeah, they were paid off now, plus savings rolling in. Then there was... well, the guy she’d sort of, you know, tentatively started dating through a blind date connection. Everything clicked.
