Summary
Alfred, the mightiest sorcerer in the land, was hailed as a hero after he joined the legendary party that defeated the Demon Lord. But in the final battle, he took a cursed arrow to his knee—a wound that refused to fully heal. Despite the pain, Alfred’s strength remained unmatched, and everyone in the kingdom knew it.
However, his plans for a quiet recovery were constantly interrupted. Everywhere he turned, people sought his unmatched abilities.
“We need a leader for our new knight order!” one noble insisted.
“Could you oversee operations as our guild’s chief?” asked another.
“Please, rid us of the dragon terrorizing the Northern Mountains!”
Each request pulled Alfred further from the rest he desperately craved. Frustrated and yearning for peace, he decided to seek solitude in a remote village—one so small and insignificant that no one would think to disturb him.
One day, while sifting through mundane job postings, Alfred’s eyes caught something intriguing:
*“Guard needed in Mulg Village. Wolves and boars troubling locals. Payment includes food and shelter. Village has a hot spring.”
“That’s it! That’s the one!” he declared, a rare glimmer of hope lighting up his weary face.
And so, the strongest wizard in the kingdom packed his belongings and headed off to Mulg Village, determined to embrace a slow, peaceful life in the countryside—away from fame, heroics, and the exhausting demands of the kingdom.
But, as Alfred would soon discover, even the quietest corners of the world aren’t as peaceful as they seem.
