Changzai 常在 – Palace Attendant

Chuxiu Palace 储秀宫 – Palace of Cultivated Beauty

Daying 答应 – Imperial Attendant

De 德妃 – Consort of Virtue & Morality

Dijie 嫡姐 – legitimate elder sister, typically the daughter of the main or lawful wife in a family.

Dimu 嫡母 – legitimate mother, typically the wife from the main or lawful marriage.

Ding Guo Gong 定国公 – Duke of National Pacification

Fei 妃 – Consort

Gonggong 公公 – a respectful address for palace eunuchs

Guan Nuzi 官女子 – Imperial Woman

Guifei 贵妃 – Noble Consort

Guiren 贵人 – Honored Lady

Huang Guifei 皇贵妃 Imperial Noble Consort

Jie/Jiejie 姐/姐姐 – means older sister. It can refer to a biological older sister or simply someone older in age.

Jieyuan 解元 – title given to the scholar who scored first in the provincial-level imperial exam

Jingyang Palace 景阳宫 – Palace of Radiant Sunlight

Kunning Palace 坤宁宫 – The Palace of Earthly Tranquility, the residence of the Empress

Lanyue Pavilion 揽月轩 – Moon-Gazing Pavilion

Liangfei 良妃 – Consort of Kindness

Mei/Meimei 妹/妹妹 – means younger sister. It can refer to a biological younger sister or someone younger in age.

Mei 媚 – alluring

Momo 嬷嬷 – Senior Maid

Niangniang 娘娘 – Your Majesty when addressing Empress, Your Highness for high-ranking consort

Pin 嫔 – Imperial Concubine

Rou 柔 – means gentle

Shichen 时辰 – one shichen is about two hours

Shu 淑妃 – Consort of Gentleness

Tingyu Pavilion 听雨阁 – Listening to Rain Pavilion

Xianfei 贤妃 – Consort of Virtue

Xianfu Palace 咸福宫 – Palace of Universal Blessings

Xiaozhu 小主 – Young Mistress. A respectful title used to address a lower-ranked consort or imperial concubine

Xiucai 秀才 – someone who passed the county-level exam

Xue 雪 – Snow

Yangxin Hall 养心殿 – Hall of Mental Cultivation. A residence and administrative center by several Qing dynasty emperors.

Yanxi Palace 延禧宫 – Palace of Lasting Joy

Yilan Pavilion 漪澜阁 – Rippled Waves Pavilion

Yiniang 姨娘 – Concubine Mother

Yonghe Palace 永和宫 – Palace of Eternal Harmony

Yongshou Palace 永寿宫 – Palace of Eternal Longevity

Zhang Jie 长姐 – Eldest sister
